Interstate Jazz Clubs

WITH winter coming on many Victorian jazz fans turn their faces and feet north in search of warmer climes. Others travel interstate for family or business reasons and may miss out on their regular jazz fix. If this is the case, the local jazz club can be a source of good advice as to what’s on, where. Here’s a short list of a few club contacts who may be able to help out.

  2. I was just about to also say what about the Tropic Jazz Club in Cairns. It’s a great club, every Thursday night at the RSL on the Esplanade.

  3. With all those southern “Grey Nomads” heading north, why stop advertising jazz clubs when you get to the Sunshine Coast? Just a little further up the coast is the Hervey Bay Jazz Club meeting on the last Friday of each month at the Hervey Bay Boat club, then it’s just a short drive to Bundaberg’s ‘Jazz At The Waves’ monthly events on Sunday afternoons. Presented by Bundaberg’s Friends of Jazz which evolved from hosting the 66th Jazz Convention, we now have a membership (free) of around 400 receiving monthly email newsletters. Jazz events by local and out-of-town bands are sponsored by the “Across The Waves” Sports Club.
Come up and see us – you’ll find the jazz, the climate and the warm welcome are worth the trip.
P.S. Love the website, Jane, our family were residents of Frankston and left before the Peninsula Club or the radio station started.
